Grieving—How To
from Jack, A member of the Partner's Bereavement forum
I must say this to everyone who took care of their spouses, partners, loved ones. They were so lucky to have us.
I'm saying this because it has helped me when I've been told this.
Like others I've heard, I, too, took time off work. I was able to work a very flexible schedule starting about in April - doing things from home. Then, in September, I took a leave of absence, through Family/Medical Leave.
Our loved ones were fortunate to have us. Even if we didn't do EVERYTHING we could (and who could do EVERYTHING, right?), we did our best, and sometimes we were exhausted, both physically and emotionally, and we just couldn't give 100% all the time.
But we were there - and that was what counted. It helps me to remember and realize that - and I hope it helps all of you, too. Take care, Denise and everyone.
